PRIVACY POLICY

 

This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how and when it is collected, what we use it for, how we look after it and how it is disposed of.  Please read it carefully.

Quick reference guide to the words we use:

“Your Information” means your Personal Information, Lifestyle Information, Test Results and Your GENEU Product.

“Personal Information” means: any information about you including your name; your age; your address; your email address; credit card details, transactional information; and correspondence history (if any).

“Lifestyle Information” means: smoking history; and sun exposure history.

“Sample” means the saliva sample that we need to take in order for us to determine which GENEU product is most appropriate for you;

“Test” means the DNA testing system that we have developed.

“Test Results” means the DNA information that we obtain from your Test. You cannot be identified through any genetic information that is collected from the Test.

“Your GENEU Product” means the GENEU product recommendations provided to you that have been personalised to your DNA and tailored to provide daily protection for your skin. The product recommendation is based on our analysis of your Test Results.

 

1. Your GENEU account:

  • When you register, create and use your GENEU account or sign up for any other services provided by GENEU or when we ask you to complete the GENEU lifestyle assessment, we may collect Personal Information and Lifestyle Information from you.
  • Your Test Results, Your GENEU Product information and any other product details will be uploaded on to your U+ skin profile.
  • It is important to ensure that you keep your username and password secure.

 

2. Taking the sample

  • Before we can provide you with any GENEU products, we need to take a Sample for us to determine what product is most appropriate for you. We will then carry out the Test. The Sample is an oral saliva sample and it will enable us to collect a sample of your DNA. This information from the Test does not consist of medical information and we are only using it to analyse genes, which determine your skin’s predisposition to ageing.

3. The Test Results

  • We will collect and store your Test Results securely and use them solely for the purposes of tailoring your skincare regime so that we can provide personalised skincare products best suited to you based on our analysis of your Test Results.
  • Once the Test is completed and your consultation is finalised, your Sample will be securely destroyed as clinical waste.
  • We will keep a record of your Test for a period of up to three months from the date that the Sample was first taken. This will allow us to verify the accuracy of the Test Results and to ensure that the product recommendations are accurate.
  • Don’t worry. We won’t disclose your Test Results to any third party, unless we are required by law to do so as in accordance with paragraph 6 below.

 

4. What we do with the information we collect and how you can access Your Information

  • Our aim is to understand your needs and provide you with a better service. In particular, we will use the information that we collect from you for the following reasons:
    • to carry out our obligations arising from any contracts entered into between you and us and to provide you with the information, products and services that you request from us.
    • preparation for repeat orders – we will store Your Information to ensure that we can quickly recall previously recommended products and track progress of results (in the case of lifestyle factors) from your repeat orders.
    • to provide you with information about other goods and services we offer that are similar to those that you have already purchased or enquired about.
    • to provide you, or permit selected third parties to provide you, with information about goods or services we feel may interest you. We will only contact you by phone, post or by electronic means (e-mail or SMS) with information about goods and services similar to those which were the subject of a previous sale to you. You will only be contacted by our carefully selected third parties if you have consented to this by ticking the box on the Privacy Policy at the end of the Lifestyle Assessment form.  This will give you access to potential discounts, offers and opportunities from us or one of our partnering brands.   You may choose to stop receiving this marketing information at any time by contacting us – link to Contact Details.
    • to notify you about changes to our products or service.
    • to ensure that content from our site is presented in the most effective manner for you and the device you use to access our site.
  • You may request details of Your Information, which we hold about you. A small fee will be payable. If you would like a copy of the information held about you, please write to GENEU Limited, Privacy Policy Enquiries at the address given below – see Contact Details.
  • Please let us know if you believe that any information we are holding about you is incorrect or incomplete. You can contact us by phone, email or post link to Contact Details. Please provide us with as much information as possible so that we can look into your query. We will correct any inaccuracies as soon as we can.
  • With your prior consent, we may share names and addresses from our mailing list with carefully chosen marketing partners. We may also share aggregated statistical or demographic information with third parties in a manner that does not reveal our customers’ personal identity.

 

5. Security

  • We treat Your Information as confidential information and we are committed to ensuring that Your Information is secure. Any information that we retain about you is stored in an electronic form and is kept on a secure server.
  • We have put in place the following physical, electronic and administrative procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect:
  • we monitor the use of our databases and all records of access to Your Information;
  • we encrypt storage of Your Information;
  • all Samples are anonymised and are only marked with a four-digit character code to identify the Sample;
  • we conduct internal and external audits of our security processes;
  • we limit access to Your Information to certain GENEU employees for limited, approved purposes based on their specific responsibilities; and
  • we ensure that the Sample will only leave our store to travel to the GENEU laboratory for further analysis and will be kept secure by GENEU at all times; and
  • any physical records relating to Your Information and the Sample are kept in-store and will be stored at GENEU’s premises.
  • The transmission of information via the Internet can never be completely secure. We will take all reasonable steps to protect your personal data; however, we do stress that any transmission of information by you to us is at your own risk. We do not use encrypted emails when we contact you and we only send open emails directly to the email address you provide to us when you create your GENEU account. We will assume that this email address is personal to you and can only be accessed by you. You are responsible for ensuring that this email address is secure.

 

6. Why GENEU may have to share or disclose any of Your Information

  • Your Information will only be shared or disclosed in the circumstances set out below:
  • We may share Your Information with any member of our group, which means our subsidiaries, our ultimate holding company and its subsidiaries, as defined in section 1159 of the UK Companies Act 2006.
  • With your consent, we may share your Personal Information with third parties (where relevant only) including carefully selected business partners, business partners, suppliers and sub-contractors for the performance of any contract we enter into with them or you;
  • In the event that we sell or buy any business or assets, in which case we may disclose your personal data to the prospective seller or buyer of such business or assets;
  • If GENEU or substantially all of GENEU’s assets, are acquired by a third party, in which case personal data held by it about its customers will be one of the transferred assets; and
  • If we are under a duty to disclose or share your personal data in order to comply with any legal obligation, or in order to enforce or apply our Terms and other agreements; or to protect the rights, property or safety of GENEU Limited, our customers or others. This includes exchanging information with other companies and organisations for the purposes of fraud protection and credit risk reduction.

 

7. Why GENEU may share aggregated data to third parties

We may share aggregate or anonymised data formed from an analysis of Your Information and that of other customers with carefully selected advertisers and advertising networks that require the data to select and serve relevant adverts to you and others who use our Website. We do not disclose information about identifiable individuals to our advertisers, but we may provide them with aggregate information about our users. (For example, we may tell them that a certain number of men of a certain age have clicked on their advertisement on any given day). We may also use this aggregate information to help advertisers reach the kind of audience they want to target. We may make use of the personal data we have collected from you to enable us to comply with our advertisers’ wishes by displaying their advertisement to that target audience.

We may also share aggregate information with analytics and search engine providers that assist us in the improvement and optimisation of our Website.
